J D Power & What Car Survey Results

Sunday, 13. June 2010

The 2010 What Car and J D Power Ownership Satisfaction Survey is out now and available in the July issue of What Car. The survey arrives at its findings after analysing returns from 17,200 motorists travelling a total of 300 million miles in their cars. 104 models from 27 manufacturers have been rated with every aspect of owning scrutinised. The satisfaction percentage score is made up of four sections. Vehicle appeal accounts for 37% of the overall score, quality and reliability 24%, ownership costs 22% and finally quality of service from dealers 17%. All cars in this years survey were registered between Jan 2007 and December 2008 so this survey will give a good guide to those looking to change their car but need to know what drivers think after having the car for a couple of years. I’ve shown the top 3 cars in each category. For a full list of cars and the full breakdown of results see What Car:

So there you have it an interesting set of results. Mini don’t feature in the top 3 of the superminis and BMW come in joint 2nd with Skoda in the small family car section, not the results I would have predicted. Well done to all the winners and I’ll continue to see what can be done to find some good deals on the most popular of these cars. By Graham Hill
