Who wants to know the best selling cars of 2010? No-one? Well tough I’m going to tell you anyway! The Fiesta tops the chart for the second year but the Nissan Qashqai has popped into the top ten as a result of Nissan’s car sales hike from 77,924 in 2009 to 87,396 in 2010, a jump of 15%. This made Nissan the most popular Japanese car maker in the UK overtaking Toyota who suffered badly with its massive recall dropping sales by 15%. The Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT) who prepared the figures pointed out also that Honda sales slumped by 15% and Suzuki by 25%. Total sales increased by 1.8% over 2009 so a good year helped by fleet sales that increased by 10%. OK on to the results of the top 10 selling cars in 2010:

Car Sold
Ford Fiesta 103,013
Vauxhall Astra 80,646
Ford Focus 77,804
Vauxhall Corsa 77,398
VW Golf 58,116
VW Polo 45,517
Peugeot 207 42,185
BMW 3 Series 42,020
MINI 41,883
Nissan Qashqai 39,048

Whilst sales were up in 2010 the SMMT is expecting sales to fall back in 2011 by 5% but to be on the road to recovery during the second half of the year. By Graham Hill
