Great News About The Environment Will Halt Taxes On Motorists

Saturday, 12. June 2010

The new prime minister has suggested that he won’t pick on motorists to dig the country out of the deficit single handed – yeah right! To date we’ve had to accept that if we are to save the bit of atmosphere above the UK we must think green and therefore drive more fuel efficient and low CO2 emitting vehicles. The way the government has done this is to make us pay, obviously reluctantly but of course it’s for our own good Read more »

Does An Expert Have The Answer To Congestion Or Is He Dopey

Friday, 11. June 2010

You won’t believe the next piece of advice offered by Peter Rodger, Chief Examiner at the Institute of Advanced Motorists! He is suggesting that we queue jump when there are holdups on motorwaysand multilane carriageways. He suggests that where there is an obstruction, such as an accident or work being carried out that shuts down one or more lanes, that instead of forming an orderly queue, like us Brits always do, Read more »

The now famous Graham Hill new car review focuses this week on another unnatural car, the 4Dr Aston Martin Rapide. First of all Aston Martin create the craziest car ever, their new city car, then they bring out a 4Dr saloon. I was beginning to think these sport car producers had lost the plot until I recently saw the 4Dr Porsche Panamera in the flesh and it actually looked pretty good. I was all set to hate it but I Read more »

New Way To Protect Your Alloy Wheels From Damage

Thursday, 10. June 2010

One of the biggest confusions over end of lease charges is that of scuffed alloy wheels with bills for repairs being as high as £120 per wheel. Many drivers cannot understand why scuffs to alloy wheels are chargeable as damage. As one woman that wrote to me explained ‘We all scrape wheels on the pavement when parking, surely it is no different to worn carpets, and stone chips?’ The fact is that if you are driving Read more »

How You Can Make Big Savings On Your Car Costs

Wednesday, 9. June 2010

We have a bit of an exclusive from GHA Finance this week. I am often fighting with dealers and my quoting systems to get the keenest rates for my clients. But whilst we try to get the rates as low as possible customers see this as the only area where they can make cost savings when changing their cars. In fact this shouldn’t be the end of the journey, it should be the start. There are many things you can do to minimise your transport costs which we have discussed in the past such as:  Read more »

Less Money To Lend For car Finance

Tuesday, 8. June 2010

The importance of using a good car finance broker has been once again highlighted by press reports confirming a lack of money available to lend, as the effects of the credit crunch continue. In a recent article, John Lewis, chief executive of the British Vehicle Rental and Leasing Association, pointed out that funding is still in limited supply and ‘the days of easy credit are long gone.’ He went on to confirm what I have been saying Read more »

According to a spokesman for esure/Sheila’s Wheels group it’s the desire to push up injury claims, often by people chatting in the pub, that has pushed up Read more »

Electric Cars – Good Idea? Boris Thinks So.

Sunday, 6. June 2010

Bonkers Boris is charging ahead with plans to build 25,000 recharging points for electric cars. This will attract 100,000 battery vehicles into the city. Now correct me if I’m wrong but I understood that there was a ‘Congestion’ charge, aimed at keeping cars out of London. It isn’t a ‘Stop London from getting smelly’ charge or a ‘Let’s reduce the emissions’ charge, it’s aim was to try to get everyone onto public transport Read more »
