The Importance Of Regular Car Servicing

Wednesday, 14. January 2009

Motoring organisations have warned motorists not to look to save motoring costs, in these difficult times, by not having their car serviced on time. Certainly shop around to get the best deal and don’t forget under the European rulings you no longer need to have cars serviced at main dealers to retain the warranty cover so you can use garages and fast fit service centres, charging much lower hourly rates than a main dealer, to have your car serviced. It is important that vehicles are properly maintained in these dangerous driving conditions so make sure that you look to other areas of expense to cut out but make sure the car is serviced. Also make sure that the strength of anti-freeze in the water is at the correct level and always make sure that your windscreen wash water bottle is full before leaving on a trip. Also make sure you use winter windscreen wash containing anti-freeze and check the mix strength, for most of them in the summer the mix is one part wash to ten parts water but in winter it can be as high as equal amounts of wash to water. It’s bad enough driving with a windscreen covered in dirt and salt from the road but worse when the washers freeze up. Don’t forget if you lease your car that the car must be maintained as recommended by the manufacturer. Take care and keep warm. By Graham Hill
