Peugeot (Photo credit: Wikipedia)
If the financial problems weren’t enough it would seem that Citroen and Peugeot need to sort their cars out, or more importantly their electrics, according to a new report prepared by BBA Reman – a specialist in remanufacturing problematic electrical components (no I don’t know what that means either), based in Rochester, Kent.
Thinking of a change but unsure as to the best way to finance your car? Then you need a copy of my car finance book, Car Finance – A Simple Guide by Graham Hill. Click on the link below to buy the best car finance book on the market, available as a Kindle Book and Paper Back.
They say that they dealt with more Citroens than any other make of car among its 43,500 UK customers. The most common fault was within the ECU’s fitted mainly to C4’s and C5’s.
The same issue caused Peugeot to fall into 2nd place with the same problem occurring in 206, 307 and 407. Whilst some would say that this isn’t surprising given the difficulties faced by the manufacturers, they may be surprised to learn that contrary to belief that Germans are the most reliable VW and Audi were 3rd and 4th respectively. Maybe a bit of a wakeup call there! By Graham Hill Car Finance

I’m forever making up excuses for cars such as Skoda, Seat and Chevrolet. All three makes are extremely good considering their roots and the long held view that in their previous existences they were, well frankly – crap! Take the Skoda, the butt of many a comedian’s joke, but now, under VW ownership with VW parts and German build control the Read more »

If you are a ‘baby boomer’ and experienced the flower power 60’s whilst bombing around in yours or your mate’s VW Camper you can now share that experience with your grand children – in a tent! That’s right you can now get a very realistic looking tent in the shape of a 60’s Campervan, guaranteed to draw attention and be the highlight on any camp Read more »

VW are currently leading the race towards accident free driving with a concept car that can operate completely driverless. Based on a Passat the car can be driven hands and feet free using many features already available on current production cars. The car can scan road conditions and make adjustments with the driver simply acting as an observer. Read more »

The Graham Hill Review of a new car is actually a car that I’ve never been a big fan of but I’m going to make mention simply because it’s a survivor and there are people that see them more as a way of life rather than a simple car. The Stig is known to chew one of these after lunch to remove small food particles from between his teeth but to us it’s known as Read more »

My car review this week is the new BMW 4Series. We will see it in 2012 but I have to say I’m not particularly inspired. I’m a lover of BMW’s but after losing the plot with the X6 they’ve now set their sights on a mini looking version based on the 3 Series. It’s a 5Dr Coupe which I thought might be an exciting proposition but it isn’t a patch on the Mercedes E Read more »

If you thought you were going to get a great deal on a Mercedes or a BMW you can pretty much forget it! Sales for both German manufacturers were up by more than 30% at the beginning of the year. Whilst most of this increase was into fleet buyers it has meant that the crazy deals that we saw in 2007/8 have not had to be repeated to increase sales. Read more »

The latest re-call of cars has come out of VW both of which have involved fuel pipe faults that could cause fires. The recall includes 370,000 cars consisting of Jettas, Jetta estates and Golf models sold between 2007 and 2009. A small plastic tab could cause a fuel pipe leak. The second fault is on the 2.5 litre Beetle. A clamp in the power steering system could pierce the fuel supply line. I was starting to wonder who on the planet would own a 2.5 litre Beetle and it was then announced that all Read more »

I’ve heard today that VW have slipped back on deliveries even further on the new Passat CC’s, that we have on order. Deliveries of cars ordered as long ago as September have now slipped back to February/March next year. Touareg’s on order have also slipped back to March. Considering the fact that we were quoted deliveries for end of November this is a disgrace but even worse we still don’t have specific delivery dates. Typical of many manufacturers the marketing team decided Read more »

What has happened to the colour of our cars? Wherever you went a few years ago you would see a rainbow of colours driving up and down our roads but drive along a motorway these days you will drive along side a series of pretty monotone coloured cars. Three quarters of all cars registered this year are black, white, silver or grey. In 2000 the third and fourth most popular colours were blue and green. They have now dropped heavily in popularity according to leading automotive paint supplier, Read more »
