Do You Take Your Warranty For Granted?

Sunday, 23. May 2010

Service intervals have crept out with some cars not needing a first service until it is 2 years old. Some of the earliest first service intervals are still a minimum of 12 months but there is a problem with this. You see years ago, by the end of the first year, your car would have had 2 or 3 services with the first after just 1,000 miles to have an oil change and remove the swarf that had built up in the bottom of the oil sump. The Not So Good News From Ford

Sunday, 16. May 2010

There have been a lot of hurrah’s and yippees as Ford have dropped their list prices by up to 12% on many models in their range. Obviously it passed everyone by that in fact they increased their prices by 15.1% last year when inflation was bouncing along at a little over 0%. In fact the actual increase imposed by Ford was higher than 15.1% as the increases took place in 4 chunks and I’ve disregarded the Read more »

Toyota Recalls Lead To Calls For Car Blackboxes

Sunday, 2. May 2010

To say that Toyota have had a bit of a rough time is somewhat of an understatement and the repercussions continue on. After they dismissed cars flying across roundabouts and over cliffs, having been unable to stop following uncontrolled acceleration, as being a problem with dopey drivers being unable to fit carpet mats back in their cars after cleaning them, they have paid a hefty price. That ‘bigotgate’ moment Read more »

Graham Hill, Car Finance Expert, Asks – How Would You Like A Free iPad With Your New Car?

Saturday, 24. April 2010

Not only do the Americans have cheap lease rates they have some great incentives offered to buyers in order for them to choose their car over others. The latest gimmick is being offered by Hyundai. They are offering every buyer of their new V8 Equus luxury limo their service book loaded onto an Apple iPad. Customers can even use the iPad to book services or receive information updates. I didn’t get one of these Read more »

Graham Hill, Car Finance Expert, Shows Huge Differences In Lease Rates Between UK & USA

Monday, 19. April 2010

As we know, we tend to follow behind America, whether it’s the weather, release of new technology, a recession, an economic recovery and so on. So I was pleased to read in the Wall Street Journal that the leasing industry is just taking off big style in the US with (surprisingly) Toyota leading the way with Honda following up offering incredible deals to move new cars with rates dropping lower than they were at the Read more »

Graham Hill, Car Finance Expert, Gives Details Of New Average Speed Road

Saturday, 20. March 2010

Good news for those living near or travelling down the A13 in East London. Transport for London have introduced, for the first time in the UK, average speed cameras on a road with multiple entry and exit points. 84 cameras based at 37 locations will ensure that you don’t escape by monitoring the speed of vehicles. Sledgehammers and nuts spring to mind, maybe someone should check the accident and fatality stats for the stretch of road in question under the Freedom of Information Act? As I don’t go there I won’t bother of course! By Graham Hill

Toyota Work Hard To Fix Cars And Reputation

Wednesday, 10. March 2010

Toyota finally looks as though it is seeing some light at the end of the tunnel after what must have been the worst start to a year in its history. So far this year 188,500 cars have been recalled, the majority of which require replacements to their accelerator linkages (180,000) and 8,500 Prius require modifications to their braking systems. The accelerator linkage repairs take about 30 minutes to complete. Whilst Read more »

Hire Cars & Benefit In Kind Tax

Thursday, 4. March 2010

What is the benefit in kind tax position of an employee who is provided with a hire car? I could go into lots of detail as it depends on whether the employee has a company car provided and whether he has it for 30 days continuously. Whether the car is better or worse than his company car and if it’s not to replace a company car then how much of the mileage is private! Oh this is so boring, If you really want to know look it up on Google or something! I’ll just move on before I bore myself to death! By Graham Hill

How To Avoid A Fixed Penalty

Friday, 22. January 2010

Some people believe that when a ticket is issued with incorrect information, such as your name spelt incorrectly or the car registration transposed that you can avoid prosecution. I seem to recall when I was first driving that this was the case but these days it is more difficult to get away with a prosecution as a result of what a court would consider to be a clerical error. If you genuinely believe that you or your Read more »
