A new code of conduct is set to be launched this month by the Retail Motor Industry Federation, the association responsible for dealers and workshops. The scheme is set up to promote best practice and help to maintain standards for motorists, covering servicing and repairs. However, not everyone is impressed as there are already others operating similar controls, such as the AA, who argue that there are already too many in operation. AA technical specialist Vanessa Guyll said, ‘Multiple codes Read more »

Your Rights When Buying A Used Car

Thursday, 7. October 2010

Buying a used car from a dealer? Then you should be more aware of your rights according to the Office of Fair Trading, who have reported that the number of complaints against dealers, for faults that have come to light within the first 3 months, has increased by 18% during the first half of 2010. The Office of Fair Trading Direct received over 38,000 complaints and, as Michele Shambrook of the OFT pointed out, ‘Most of the faults that come to light are the dealer’s responsibility.’ Had a bad used car experience when purchased from a car dealer, please let me know? However, whilst the OFT keeps a watching brief over the activities of those Read more »

Thursday, 5. November 2009

In a recent case, exposed in What Car a lady experienced a sunroof leak in her 2 year old Mondeo. New Website Helps Drivers To Find The Cheapest Fuel

Wednesday, 23. July 2008

Well, it’s motor show time again and all the talk is about the new low emission cars. So it wasn’t surprising that at the same time Asda and Morrisons announced fuel cuts by up to 4 pence per litre which may spark a price war – we hope. It may therefore be wise to track the lowest prices closest to you which you can do by clicking on http://www.petrolprices.com/. The warning is not to get carried away and end up travelling miles to top up, spending more on the fuel you use than the amount you save on the top up.
