New Car Sales Up Means Fewer Lease Deals
Tuesday, 17. May 2011
If you thought you were going to get a great deal on a Mercedes or a BMW you can pretty much forget it! Sales for both German manufacturers were up by more than 30% at the beginning of the year. Whilst most of this increase was into fleet buyers it has meant that the crazy deals that we saw in 2007/8 have not had to be repeated to increase sales. Other winners have been Vauxhall who have beaten Ford at the discount game, VW who had some crazy deals on the new Passat CC with old favourites like Golf and Polo holding their own.
A good supply of Qashqai and Juke at discounted prices has also helped Nissan to increase sales. Sales of Fords, Citroens and Renaults have all suffered for various reasons.
Model changes and lack of incentives has caused them to flag so we may see some good deals later in the year as they try to make up for some lost ground. By Graham Hill
