Michelin To Introduce New Planet Friendly Tyres

Thursday, 24. June 2010

As we know cars look so much better when fitted with big fat tyres fitted on a set of sexy alloys. But Michelin, the world’s biggest tyre manufacturer, is set to change that. Their new range of tyres are designed to cut rolling resistance of the rubber whilst maintaining the same handling and braking characteristics. They are considering a tall skinny 195/55R21 and a short fat 175/70R10. The short fat tyre was seen fitted on a Citroen C2 and frankly looked as though the tyres had come from 4 wheelbarrows. I dread to think what the tall skinny tyres look like on a car. Fortunately Michelin, who have pointed to the cost and energy savings, are aiming their tyres at electric vehicles, thank goodness! Wouldn’t want these tyres fitted on a car that I was driving even though they are good for the environment and reduce running costs. Do you agree? Let me know? By Graham Hill
