Great Tips To Save Motoring Costs

Wednesday, 11. February 2009

GE Capital Solutions Fleet Services has suggested that we could reduce our running costs by up to 10%. They suggest that better fuel management could reduce fuel cost, extend service intervals on some cars and reduce tyre wear. Move away more gradually from traffic lights, turn the engine off in traffic jams and drop your speed to the legal limits would have some dramatic affects. Check tyre pressures every week and make sure that the car is serviced regularly could actually save on service costs. For example having disc pads changed before they run too low could avoid having to change discs at the same time. Choosing lower CO2 emitting cars will not only help the environment, you should return better fuel consumption, lower your insurance costs and lower Vehicle Excise Duty. If the car is a company car the driver will benefit from better benefit in kind tax. As lower CO2 emitting cars become more desirable in the used car market they should stand up well in auction which will result in them being cheaper to run (as reported last week). By Graham Hill
