Great News About The Environment Will Halt Taxes On Motorists

Saturday, 12. June 2010

The new prime minister has suggested that he won’t pick on motorists to dig the country out of the deficit single handed – yeah right! To date we’ve had to accept that if we are to save the bit of atmosphere above the UK we must think green and therefore drive more fuel efficient and low CO2 emitting vehicles. The way the government has done this is to make us pay, obviously reluctantly but of course it’s for our own good and the good of our children not to bolster revenues. Well the good news Mr Cameron is that you don’t have to do it any more as we, in the UK, along with Europe, are ahead of our green targets with CO2 emissions falling faster than ever.  CO2 emissions have dropped from an average per vehicle of 165g/km in 2003 to 146g/km. We are already ahead of EU 2012 targets and easily on target to meet the average new car output of 130g/km by 2015. So there you have it Mr Cameron, no need to impose any tax increases on the motorist as we are well ahead of target unless of course the government has been deceiving us and telling us that they were only taxing us to the gunnels in order to improve the environment when in fact it was an excuse to raise more money! I wonder? By Graham Hill
