Great Advice For Drivers In The Winter

Friday, 16. October 2009

Warnings about stone chips have been issued as we move into winter. With local authorities operating on reduced budgets more roads will remain unrepaired as frost causes pot holes to appear. So when the roads start to get gritted, causing the usual stone chips on windscreens, drivers have been warned to have the chip repaired rather than run the risk of hitting a pot hole which can often result in an instant crack. Don’t forget that if you have fully comprehensive insurance on your car you are normally covered for windscreen damage and the insurer will pay for the repair of a stone chip without charging any excess making it free of charge. Also you don’t lose any no claims discount when you have glass repaired (check your policy). Take your insurance to a windscreen repair centre and they will check to see that it is non chargeable then carry out the repair there and then. Your local Autoglass can do this. By Graham Hill
