Engine Of The Year Award Announced

Thursday, 15. July 2010

Did you know that there is an engine of the year award? Well there is and this year it has gone to VW for its small size but big powered 1.4TSi petrol engine now fitted into not only the smaller cars such as Polo and Golf but also the Passat, 7 seater Touran and even the 4WD Tiguan. VW have received this award two years running and shows, according to the judging team, that engine downsizing is here to stay. VW have announced that the latest 1.4 engine has been fitted into the new Sharan full sized 7 seater which was launched on the 12th July. Amazing! With the dopey benefit in kind tax system in the UK it means that whilst the petrol engine kicks out 155g/km CO2’s compared to 143 from the 2.0TDi the petrol car will give a tax liability of 20% compared to 21% with the diesel due to the 3% loading. Any thoughts – share them with us all. By Graham Hill
