DVLA Issue Incorrect Driving Licences
Thursday, 15. October 2009
If you have had reason to have your driving licence updated because of a change of address or your licence has run out of date (don’t forget that the new photo licences only last for 10 years), you need to check it for any omissions. The DVLA have admitted that some licences have been returned with errors, in particular entitlements such as the entitlement to drive a motorcycle. One would think that the solution was simple given the fact that all information is computerised, simply send back the licence and have a new one issued but according to Motor Cycle News they have had hundreds of complaints from readers who have found the error, returned their licence and been told that the only way that the entitlement would be reinstated would be if they provided their original test certificate. The suggestion is therefore to, first of all, check your licence to show that it is correct in every detail and if you have reason to either renew or update your licence to make sure that you take very clear copies before sending it off.
