Is Your Car Your Best Friend?

Sunday, 11. July 2010

We all know that diamonds are a girl’s best friend. And man’s best friend is a dog (don’t even go there). But apparently after my report last week that a number of drivers would give up sex rather than their cars (mind you the research was carried out in Canada) we now have research showing that drivers regard their cars as their best friend. I kid you not. It was announced on BBC’s Radio 4 – so it must be true! So Read more »

Graham Hill Reviews The Audi A1

Sunday, 11. July 2010

This week the renowned Graham Hill in depth car review is focused on the new Mini alternative, the Audi A1. The Audi A1 is better. So there you have it, all you need to know when making that vital decision between the cars although I would say that personally I still prefer the shape of the Mini and the fact that it is built in the UK and although engine for engine the Audi is more powerful and economic than the Mini Read more »

Graham Hill Asks Whatever Happened To Hydrogen Cars?

Saturday, 10. July 2010

What has happened to hydrogen cars – the planet savers? There’s been loads of talk about electric cars and how all cars should be replaced with electric cars with a range of 2 miles but what has happened to hydrogen technology, it seems to have died a death? Will electric cars go the same way when the new Government decides that it won’t stuff £5 grand up the non existent exhaust of each new electric car sold Read more »

Cities Set To Scrap Congestion Charges

Friday, 9. July 2010

To make congestion charges or not to make congestion charges – that is the question that the city council of York has been wrestling with and decided – no charge – at the moment. Not wishing to be a cynic but I feel it may have had something to do with the removal of millions of pounds of funding, introduced by the Labour government to encourage cities to make the charges. But whilst this, and other proposed Read more »

Graham Hill Announces That UK Car Prices Are Still A Rip Off!

Thursday, 8. July 2010

What a bloody surprise! After hiking up their prices last year, no less than 4 times, which coincidentally coincided with the £1,000 manufacturer’s scrappage scheme contribution, Ford are now dropping their list prices by between 6% and 15% across their smaller cars from August, after all the pipeline scrappage orders have totally washed out of the system. No wonder the biggest benefactors were the Read more »

Graham Hill Guide To Deciding On A New Car

Wednesday, 7. July 2010

One of the things that continues to amaze me is the lack of attention that some people pay to the new car they are about to order. Some of this is actually caused by me and my colleagues by occasionally coming up with a deal that you can’t refuse, making the decision a bit of a no brainer but it is still a good idea to get a test drive of a car that you are likely to order. It is also important to check for certain items that for Read more »

Will You Be Subject To Car Finance Fraud?

Tuesday, 6. July 2010

Financial Services Authority
Image via Wikipedia

As most of you know the mortgage and financial services industry are regulated by the Financial Services Authority (FSA), for the time being at least until the new structure, as announced by the Chancellor, takes over fully in 2012. Cases of fraud are dealt with by both the FSA and the Office of Fair Trading(OFT) in conjunction with the police. However, whilst the OFT keeps a watching brief over the activities of those Read more »

How Dangerous Is The Inside Of Your Car?

Monday, 5. July 2010

I have warned before about the unhealthy state of steering wheels. Often when people clean their cars they completely forget the steering wheel, considered to hold more germs than a toilet but a new report from the Government’s Health Protection Agency suggests that there is much more to worry about. They have found that legionella, the microbe that causes lethal Legionaire’s disease, breeds in stagnant and Read more »

The Amazing Truth About Electric Cars!

Monday, 5. July 2010

Thinking of getting an electric car? Many are but before you get too excited the institute of Engineering and Technology has calculated that you would need a battery weighing 1.5 tonnes and costing £100,000 fitted to a Ford Focus sized car to match the range of an equivalent diesel version (370 miles). This means that you would need a pack of lithium-ion batteries the weight of a mid sized hatchback to power – well – a mid sized hatchback for this distance. What do you think of electric cars? The Strange Case Of The Missing Manhole Covers!

Monday, 5. July 2010

A rather strange type of crime has emerged around the country putting drivers lives at risk – the stealing of manhole covers. The thefts have left gaping holes in the roads and local authorities with big bills to pay. The covers cost up to £400 to replace. Surry County Council has had 536 stolen costing £160,000 to replace. This has hurt councils even more as hundreds of millions of pounds have already been slashed from Read more »
