Car Clubs Reduce Car Costs

Sunday, 14. September 2008

Hertz have announced their entry into the Car Club market as companies and consumers look at ways to reduce their car costs both throughout Europe and in the US. Locations are being selected throughout the UK and they expect to launch later in the year. Following existing models that are working they are expected to charge a monthly membership then the use of the car by the hour. The expectation is to be able to travel from city to city by train and pick up a car at each destination for fulfilling appointments. Hertz suggest that they will be concentrating on environmentally friendly cars. The announcement by Hertz came as other daily rental companies announced an increase in rates due to dropping residual values and increased auction house charges. So the timing of their new scheme looks perfect. By Graham Hill
