One in a hundred company vehicle drivers is within a point of a ban according to recent research. One in five company car drivers is one offence away from a ban with 20% having between 3 and 11 points on their licence, hence the need for regular licence checks to be carried out on drivers’ licences. Avoid Parking Tickets

Wednesday, 2. December 2009

Every year traffic wardens, now known as civil enforcement officers, issue close to £1 billion of parking tickets. Legal Precident Could Effect HP & Loan Challenges

Friday, 27. November 2009

There has been a surge in companies offering services that will help you to legally get you out of HP agreements and personal loans. One strategy has been to request a copy of your agreement and a statement of your account. In certain circumstances if the lender fails to provide you with either piece of information, in the past, under section 61 and 127 of the Consumer Credit Act, the contract was deemed Read more »

Cost Cutting Can Lead To Employees Driving Dangerous Cars

Tuesday, 24. November 2009

It would seem that some of the carbon friendly effects of the recession are better management of family vehicles and in many cases a reduction in the number of vehicles being driven by the family. Added to which many employees are opting for cash for cars in place of the old company car scheme, effectively seen as increasing their income, as they now use the family car which they had anyway and was Read more »

Clamping Down On Cowboy Clampers

Saturday, 21. November 2009

The first ever UK parking summit has recently been held to discuss the growing problems faced by motorists whose cars have been clamped by cowboy clampers operating on private land. The summit was attended by parking firms, minsters and motoring groups. The AA called for tougher laws to be introduced. Edmund King, president of the AA, said that it cannot be just for there to be no independent appeal against a Read more »

Fraud Accident Hotspots – Are Any Near You?

Friday, 20. November 2009

I reported last year that ‘staged crashes’ resulting in fraudulent insurance claims was on the increase. However, law firm Keoghs who produce the Annual Motor Fraud Index have shown that the hot spots are spreading in 2009. Along with the major hot spots, as shown below, other nearby towns are now becoming problem areas also. Greater vigilance is needed when driving in these areas to avoid accidents Read more »

Servicing Your Car Could Save Money

Thursday, 19. November 2009

I recently warned about the dangers of not having your car serviced on time from the point of view of safety. We have now had further warnings from manufacturers and leasing companies about the importance of having your car serviced on time. The manufacturers are referring to the potential loss of warranty cover if the car is not serviced ‘as per manufacturers’ recommendations’. The chances of an engine Read more »
