I understood that equipment was now available but awaiting legislation to be passed that would enable police to carry out the tests after stopping suspicious motorists. This move was supported by a poll Read more »

You, like me and my millions of readers are fairly intelligent, we all have GCSE’s and all sorts. So help me out here. I’ve been looking at the new workplace parking schemes, that come into force from April 2012, and trying to get my head around them. With companies unable to simply up stakes and move to another county that doesn’t have such a scheme Read more »

As of the 1st July the Bribery Act came into force. There was a great deal of concern when the terms of the Act were originally announced as it looked as though buying someone a cup of tea and a sandwich could be construed as an act of bribery. However, it seems that common sense may have played a part in the final wording of the Act following Read more »

Buy a car costing more than £5,000 and have a problem with it that requires court intervention and it could cost you a fortune in legal costs. However, this may be about to change if new proposals go ahead. The Government plans to increase the value of ‘small claims’ from £5,000 to a more sensible £15,000. I’ve warned about this before but if you are an employer and you have staff who drive their own vehicles on company business you have a responsibility to ensure that the employee is properly insured. Research by Trimble MRM found that more than half of those driving, what are termed, ‘grey fleet’ cars, are not properly insured. This leaves the Read more »

When my son changed his phone to enable him to gain access to the Internet he had the choice of two phones at the time (going back a few years). The first was considered a bit of a toy and was an iPhone. The other was a Blackberry. He asked lots of questions and did his own research. The iPhone certainly seemed popular and it had some clever apps on Read more »

Police are to be given the power to issue on the spot fines for dangerous and reckless driving under plans revealed by Transport Secretary, Philip Hammond. This isn’t quite what it seems as it creates visions of the old bill stopping you for doing something silly, issuing you with a ticket and be expecting you to part with readies. The idea, expressed by Read more »

Warnings have again been issued about a potential killer whilst driving. This isn’t the first time I’ve reported this hidden danger but it seems that the problem continues to grow whilst drivers are unaware of the condition they have that could endanger them and other road users. The condition is called sleep apnoea and is suffered by 800,000 Read more »
