Which Is Best Petrol Or Diesel?

Diesel car sales are exactly the same as they have been since the beginning of the year. That’s my experience however if you believe press reports diesel and petrol car sales swing backwards and forwards like a pendulum. A couple of weeks ago when fuel reached its all time high the press reported the bottom falling out of the diesel market and everyone immediately turning to petrol. According to my sales and enquiries diesel demand was just as strong. A couple of weeks later and an unexpected drop in fuel prices sees the latest press reports that suggest that diesel sales are once again on the way up to the point where they are again taking over petrol sales. The fact is that demand for diesel cars is as high as ever and we would have to see a difference of at least 25 pence per litre between petrol and diesel before buyers would be sufficiently influenced away from petrol. My advice remains the same, if you are only travelling 10,000 miles per annum, mainly around the town, get yourself an efficient petrol car. If you clog up a particulate filter through chugging around at low speed in a diesel car it can cost a fortune to replace. By Graham Hill
