Talking Mini Gives Driving Advice
Friday, 3. July 2009
I read some daft things when researching the content of this weekly newsletter, the latest is the talking Mini that is to be launched by BMW. To celebrate its 50th birthday BMW is using Smart technology to allow a special version of the Mini to say ‘Hello’, ‘Goodbye’ and ‘See you soon’ as well as offer a range of tips to make your driving safer and more economical. I understand that the car, which will be called the Camden, will suggest to the driver when it detects high speed ‘Take it easy and we’ll save fuel at the same time.’ Have you ever heard such a daft thing in all your life? It may be a novelty for the first day but after that you would want to drive the car and yourself along with the Smart technology off the nearest cliff! It’s like some of the daft notices in the backs of cars. I can see the merit of putting ‘Baby on board’ in the back screen, on many occasions that has stopped me from smashing the car in front up the ass for the sheer hell of it, but I loved the humour of the man who had a notice ‘Keep your distance – dog on board’. He clearly managed to convince his wife that he should have the sign in the rear window to protect the pooch and then gave a smile and a wink to every driver who passed him and noticed he was alone in the car with just the wife sitting next to him! Look you women I’m just reporting it – OK! By Graham Hill
