The reputation of motorway services has never been too good, that was until M&S and Waitrose were introduced and food quality was seen to improve. But leading the way was Westmorland who actually won awards for its Tebay site in Cumbria. For years we’ve been very strange in this country, we like to stop our cars by the side of the road, get out a flask of tea, pack of sandwiches and Kit Kats and have a little picnic. Some will even have a gas burner and have a bit of a fry up! All of this whilst CO2 emitting trucks and cars zoom by! Great news for those that like driving long distances on A roads but wish that there were service station like motorway service stations along the way. Well you should be careful what you wish for. In a survey carried out by Supercover Insurance it was found that more than half of cars left parked in motorway services or public car parks had valuables such as laptops, sat navs and mobile phones visible in the vehicle.
