Whilst you may not live near Heathrow if you’ve ever had the need to travel into London via the M4 past the airport you will know the frustration of sitting in the traffic whilst the bus lane remained empty except for the occasional bus and taxi. As you know the lane was reverted back to a general lane last December and since then 4.5 million cars have Read more »

Years ago I used to attend meetings hosted by the Finance and Leasing Association at which all sorts of issues were discussed regarding the finance industry with a special interest in fraud. Eventually they stopped inviting me, probably because I have a big mouth and am never frightened to open it. This doesn’t make me a lot of friends when I believe Read more »

The ‘silliest remark of the week’ came from NCP managing director Duncan Bowins. It came about when a driver arrived at a railway station in order to catch a train, he had driven into the NCP car park which was full so he had to park his car a little awkwardly. Whilst not causing an obstruction he was parked outside a bay which meant he received Read more »

Westminster City Council have led the way by voting that parking charges be introduced on Sundays between 1pm and 6pm and to extend weekday and Saturday controlled parking to midnight. The new Hindhead tunnel in Surrey will open in July to the applause of drivers and local conservationists alike. But this isn’t just any old tunnel it is, as the Highways Agency call it, their ‘flagship scheme’. Not only will it remove traffic from the Devil’s Punchbowl beauty spot and make the journey from London to Portsmouth quicker it is crammed with Read more »

Following on from my campaign to remove number plates from used car adverts online, something considered unnecessary by so called experts, the police reported that £500,000 of fuel was stolen from forecourts in the London area last year by cars fitted with false number plates. Maybe time for a re-think! Have you had your car number plate cloned and received a call from the old bill or a fine that isn’t yours? Let us know? By Graham Hill

Today’s amazing fact is that there are over 25,000 traffic lights across the country with 6,000 in London alone. The number increased by 30% between 2000 and 2008. The figures were collated by the RAC Foundation who also pointed out that the number of lights that were programmed to give priority to busses rose by 221% in just 2 years from 3,801 Read more »

Last week I reported on the shambles known as the EU Consumer Credit Directive that would, without doubt, cause widespread confusion amongst consumers and small businesses (who were included in the Consumer Credit Act but not in the CCD). Trying to get the message across to customers in dealerships would result in the blind leading the blind Read more »

Even though we know the Government is hell bent on converting us to electric cars I’m still not convinced. When it was announced that the Government was going to put £5,000 across the bonnet of electric cars to encourage drivers to buy them and Boris was going to put a free electric charging point in every parking bay making it the world’s leading Read more »
