We have finally had confirmation from the treasury that the tax changes mentioned in the last budget only apply to new cars. Not that anyone expected it to be otherwise but the statements should never have been so vague in the first place. Staying on these two misleading articles they also point to the dangers of taking finance on cars and the problems faced by those who want to get out of their current large or gas guzzling cars and into smaller more efficient cars but are unable to because of the negative equity position with the settlement costs being far in excess of the resale value of the car on finance, ie. negative equity. Warnings have been issued over the rapid growth in fake driving licences that can now be bought over the internet for as little as £350. The police are saying that these licences are virtually indistinguishable from the originals and should cause concern for employers who have a duty of care to ensure that drivers are road legal to drive their company vehicles or drive their own vehicles on company business.
