Ridiculous Insurance Claims Likely After Doctor Report

Tuesday, 13. September 2011

Is health and safety about to move to a new level or am I just being very cynical? If you, or a member of staff, has a car accident, whilst on company business, we now know (especially those that read my newsletter/blog) that much of the responsibility falls on the shoulders of the employer. The car has to be properly insured and maintained, irrespective Read more »

Irresponsible Employers Could Lead To Employee Car Accidents

Saturday, 20. August 2011

I have written about this before but having read something shocking I thought it was about time to address it again. Here is what I read: ‘More police die driving to and from work than die fighting crime. And more firefighters die driving to and from work than die fighting fire.’ That is frightening isn’t it? Staff cutbacks and pressures on staff to put in greater Read more »

Incorrect Government Stats Hide Real Accident Figures

Wednesday, 25. November 2009

We tend to be pretty reactionary when it comes to the way we act in our day to day lives. We hear that there has been an increase in paedophile activity in public parks so we keep a closer eye on our children when taking them out or even stop the kids from going out at all. Hear that Swine Flu will become a pandemic and we rush out to get vaccinated – and rightly so. So when we hear that road injuries sustained Read more »

How Safe Is Your Car?

Monday, 9. November 2009

Fears are growing regarding the safety of cars on our roads as drivers put off service and maintenance work in order to save some money during the recession. There has also been an increase in employees either asking to be put on a cash for cars scheme or for their employers to introduce a scheme. It is felt the motives are purely financial with employees looking to downsize their car and pocket what equates to an Read more »

Insurance Claims To Be Paid Out Quicker In Future

Friday, 23. October 2009

New rules will be introduced next year to speed up insurance payouts following car accidents where liability is accepted. The Ministry of Justice said the agreement will streamline road traffic accident personal injury claims between £1,000 and £10,000 – around 80% of all motor personal injury claims. The new process comes into force in April 2010. It means, where fault is not disputed, Read more »

Safety Device That Truly Saves Lives

Thursday, 10. September 2009

If you are not aware of ESP or Electronic Stability Program (also known as ESC Electronic Stability Control) you must be new to my newsletter and never watched one of my new car videos. If you are aware of ESP you will know that I go on about it constantly because I truly believe that it should be fitted as standard on all cars now and not in a few years (2014) as has now been insisted upon by the EC. Around the world 1.4 million people die in Read more »

The Dangers Of Driving With A Cold

Sunday, 1. March 2009

We all know we shouldn’t drink and drive but following a study carried out by Lloyds TSB Insurance we shouldn’t have a cold or flu and drive. According to their survey they found that over 125,000 crashes last year were caused by motorists that were suffering with either a cold or flu. This equated to one in ten collisions being caused by people with either of these viruses costing around £350 million in claims. The survey found that Read more »

Report Says That Young Drivers Risk Lives By Drink Driving

Tuesday, 20. January 2009

1 in 12 seventeen to twenty five year old drivers don’t believe that they will ever get caught when drink driving compared to 1 in 25 older drivers. These findings were the result of a survey carried out amongst 4,000 drivers by safety charity BRAKE and Green Flag Motoring Assistance. Safety organisations have been pushing to extend police powers to enable them to breathalyse drivers without Read more »

How Tyre Pressure Can Save Lives

Wednesday, 14. January 2009

When was the last time you checked your tyre pressures? Michelin has found that 60% of motorists are driving on under inflated tyres after it carried out a nationwide survey. This can seriously affect grip and therefore safety, tyre wear and fuel consumption. I know it’s cold but that 5 minutes taken to check the tyres would be time well spent. By Graham Hill

Belt Up & Save A Life

Wednesday, 26. November 2008

You may have noticed the latest campaign to encourage motorists to use seat belts, 40 years after Jimmy Saville’s Clunk Click campaign. Whilst I find it amazing that people have to be reminded to do this every trip it’s worth mentioning that if all drivers and passengers belted up on every trip one life would be saved each day! By Graham Hill
