Most of us are aware that ABS is fitted to our cars and you are probably sufficiently technically astute to know that ABS is a system fitted to your brakes that enables you to brake and steer at the same time, especially important on wet or slippery roads. If you’ve ever used it, it sounds like a machine gun as the brake pads grip the brake disc then let go and Read more »

Auto Express recently reminded us that since the changes to European Regulation 461/2010 (Motor Vehicle Block Exemption) you can have your car serviced at an independent garage and provided they carry out all work in accordance with the rules set down by the manufacturer your warranty will be honoured. That is fine and I totally Read more »

I thought it would happen, just as I started giving positive reviews about cars that I like along came Land Rover with a rather dopey car. You would have seen the Defender that they have been building since cars were invented, those are the ones that you see army personnel thrashing about in, farmers rounding up sheep in and tribesmen tearing across Read more »

I recently had a note from someone who was having major problems with a dealership over a fault that developed in his new car. The problem was taking far too long to resolve and the client was getting very frustrated. Even contacting the manufacturer didn’t seem to work so in a fit of rage he called the finance company, who legally still owned the car, Read more »

My blog continues to grow in stature, if you haven’t seen it you really should visit it sometime. It isn’t pretty but it contains more information than any other car finance blog in the world. As of this morning the site was number 1 on Google out of 200 million for the three word keyword expression Car Finance Blog . It has seen off it’s main rivals from Read more »

My car review of the week is a bit of a supercar. It’s Fiat but not just any Fiat it’s the Maserati Granturismo MC Stradale. It’s difficult to think that Maserati and Ferrari are both owned by Fiat but they are, in the case of Maserati since 1993. This beast of a car has a grill that looks like a shark’s mouth full of teeth ready to devour anything that gets Read more »

The motor industry gets a bad press when it comes to the way it treats customers but I feel certain that the vast majority of car dealers act honourably and fairly. However, treating customers fairly doesn’t make for good headlines so I tend to only read the stories about the atrocious behaviour of just a few dealers when the customer, normally a Read more »

Sadly it looks as though we are about to lose Saab as a car manufacturer. They applied to the court in Sweden for protection from their creditors but the application was tuned down by a Swedish court yesterday. Whilst Saab are looking to appeal it is unlikely that at this late stage they will avoid bankruptcy. The company was bought from General Read more »

The ‘silliest remark of the week’ came from NCP managing director Duncan Bowins. It came about when a driver arrived at a railway station in order to catch a train, he had driven into the NCP car park which was full so he had to park his car a little awkwardly. Whilst not causing an obstruction he was parked outside a bay which meant he received Read more »

Over the weekend I worked out how to download a video on You Tube onto a memory stick then take the memory stick and plug it into a USB port in the back of my new LG TV then watch the video, and jolly good it was too! I am told, by the instruction book, that’s the thing we never read until we’ve tried every which way to use the facility then turn to in Read more »
