Sat Navs Considered To Be Very Inaccurate

Thursday, 26. August 2010

Do you have a Sat Nav? Does it get you where you want to go by the best route? Apparently not according to a recent survey carried out by Manheim Auctions. Whilst half of all drivers have a sat nav only one in eight of the owners trust them. A third said they managed to get them completely lost with 15% blaming it for causing them to miss an important event. I missed a concert whilst driving my previous car, a BMW, whilst it quite happily sent me round in a loop in the middle of London. Manheim’s Craig Mailey suggests that you don’t follow it blindly and exercise caution. My suggestion is to make sure you check and double check the information you put into the device. Don’t just input the post code make sure that you enter the street as well as a confirmation and finally, keep an eye on the road signs, they are a good indicator that you could be coming rather than going! Two Swedish tourists drove 400 miles off route when they were in Italy because they typed in Carpi rather than Capri! Have you had a bad experience with a sat nav – let us know? By Graham Hill
