Recession Leads To Dangerous Driving

Apparently the use of hand held phones whilst driving has increased because of, wait for it, the recession! Yep, it’s true according to a survey carried out by ING Car Lease. Apparently more drivers who drive cars on business feel under pressure to receive and make calls when driving rather than miss important calls that may result in the difference between keeping or losing their jobs. The survey found that 69% of company car drivers questioned felt under pressure to make or take calls whilst driving whilst 39% of respondents admitted to having emailed or texted at some time in the past whilst driving. The Transport Research Laboratory found that drivers who send text messages whilst driving lose a third of their concentration. By Graham Hill
