New Way For Young Drivers To Reduce Insurance Costs

Thursday, 18. August 2011

Here’s an interesting piece of information if you are a young driver or you know someone who is a young driver looking to reduce their ridiculous insurance costs. Auto Express found a way for young drivers to shave hundreds of pounds off their insurance cost by switching to a provider that takes the years of having a provisional licence into account. Auto Express compared the quotes for a 20 year old driver of a 1.6 Ford Focus who passed his test 6 months ago but had a provisional licence since he was 17.

Aviva wanted £2,504, which is £600 less than the best premium offered on gocompare.com for a policy that didn’t take account of the years the driver had a provisional licence.

The view of Aviva was that the years of experience gained as a learner driver added to your overall experience of driving a car. On the other hand gocompare said that ‘supervised’ driving didn’t count. Personally I think it’s great news for young drivers. By Graham Hill
