Major Review Of Road Signs
Saturday, 27. September 2008
The Government has launched a major review of road signs, the biggest for 40 years. Transport Minister, Rosie Winterton, has called upon all motorists to have their say in how Britain’s streets should look in future. The review is aimed at using latest technology to help cut congestion and emissions and keep traffic moving safely and efficiently. The idea is to provide local authorities with new powers to remove street clutter and replace or remove out of date signs. New technology will be used to provide better road information such as up to date travel news. Better road signage will help to control the increasing amount of fuel wasted by cars held up in traffic jams. If you have any strong views either nationally or locally then you should make representation to the Department for Transport. The review will begin by the middle of next year. By Graham Hill
