Growing Support For Alternative Car Manufacturers

Friday, 23. September 2011

Years ago stand up comedians like Bernard Manning could fill a complete stand up slot with jokes about Ladas and Skodas, you didn’t measure their speed in miles per hour but feet per week etc. Nissan was called Datsun and called cars after flowers and birds, like Primrose and Bluebird. In those days they simply didn’t get it in the same way as our exporting companies would call their products what they thought were made up names but turned out to be swear words in the market they were sold to.

But things have changed. Cars like Seat and Skoda, both owned by VW now, have much greater status than ever before and funky cars like the Nissan Qashqai and Juke are on the best seller lists.

In fact most cars these days are very reliable, have great fuel consumption, acceleration and top speed with many brands now having 4 and 5 year warranties.

So it isn’t surprising that more consumers and businesses are seeing the benefit of choosing some of the ‘lower’ brands, ending up with a great car but with not such a prestige badge on the front.

You may also find that if you have a problem with your car that the dealer and manufacturer will do more to resolve the problem not wishing for adverse publicity at a time when they are driving forward into the UK market.

So if you are looking for reliable cars with good spec at a good lease rate it may be worth considering cars such as the Seat, Kia, Hyundai, Skoda etc. By Graham Hill
