Graham Hill’s Gadget Prevents Filling A Car With Wrong Fuel

Tuesday, 19. April 2011

Are you one of those nutters that likes to fill up your diesel car with petrol? If you are I’ve a gadget for you as the famed Graham Hill gadget of the week! There are still 150,000 motorists misfuelling their cars each year with repairs costing between £200 and £7,000. Most instances involve diesel cars being filled with petrol. As diesel filler nozzles are wider than petrol nozzles one way to prevent yourself from topping up with unleaded is to fit my gadget of the week, the Solodiesel. It simply fits into the filler tube of your car. It screws into place and replaces your existing filler cap.

The device came out in 2009 to much acclaim but the new and updated model now includes 5 safety hooks that recognise just the diameter of a diesel nozzle thus stopping you from pouring in petrol. This I’m told is an improvement over the original 2 flaps. The makers say that the latest version is a little shorter so will now fit 99% of all cars.

It also features anti-static plastics thus preventing any sparks on the forecourt that could explode you into Kingdom come. The gadget costs £39.99 and can be found on their website www.solodiesel.co.uk.

On the other hand you could simply pay more attention to filling the car than those around you! I’m sure I shouldn’t have said that! By Graham Hill
