Government To Get Tough On Dangerous Driving
Monday, 17. October 2011
After a series of sad cases where people have been badly injured and the driver has walked away with a minimal fine and a couple of months in prison the government is about to crack down on those driving dangerously resulting in serious injury. A new offence – causing serious injury by dangerous driving has been recommended by Justice
Secretary Ken Clarke. It will carry an unlimited fine and an increase in the maximum prison sentence from 2 years to 5 years. If the proposal gets approved the new penalties will be included in the Legal Aid, Sentencing and Punishment of Offenders Bill. By Graham Hill
