Driverless Cars Now Road Legal
Sunday, 7. August 2011
Is this a sign of the times ahead? The US state of Nevada has made driverless cars road legal. The development is down to the Internet search engine, Google. The firm has developed the technology behind the vehicles and lobbied for the change. The cars use state of the art technology such as GPS, radars and numerous cameras to detect traffic and negotiate their way from point to point. Thousands of miles have been travelled by the prototype cars in California with only one accident and that happened when a human driven car ran into the back of one of the prototype cars.
This should make trips on the M1 interesting! And who does the police prosecute – the car? Any thoughts on this? By Graham Hill
