Cost Of Motoring Set To Soar In 2010

Sunday, 7. March 2010

During this bad winter the number of car insurance claims have sky rocketed. From crashes to pothole damage, it’s been a disaster. As a result we are likely to see a hike of between 7% and 11% in premiums making it even more important to shop around when it comes to renewing your car insurance. Increased oil prices are going to add to the pain by adding up to 5 pence per litre with predictions that fuel will increase by 10 pence per litre by the end of the year. There is already a 1 penny per litre duty increase due in April and of course there is a likely increase in VAT  when a new Government is voted in. All together now – I’m H A P P Y, I’m H A P P Y dum de dum de dum! OK, even more good news – if you’re a pessimist, car prices will be increasing again as the pound slumps against the US dollar and Euro making imported cars more expensive along with commodities used in car production. It would seem that motorists are in for a particularly bleak time this year. Nothing to add to that really – I’m off to Tesco to buy my lottery tickets! By Graham Hill
