Chip Oil Theft On The Increase As Fuel Increases In The US.
Tuesday, 1. July 2008
You couldn’t make this up. Apparently in the USA where fuel prices have rocketed to about 30p per litre, thefts of fast food fryer oil has run out of control. It is now being traded on the commodity markets at $2.50 a gallon. The oil can be turned into fuel for cars and trucks using a conversion kit. Recently, police arrested a man for stealing 2,500 gallons of waste oil from fast food outlets in Washington State worth more than $6,000. It’s just a matter of time before it catches on over here I guess – yet another reason why you shouldn’t leave your chip pan unattended, you might return to find a pile of uncooked chips in the bottom of the pan whilst the thief makes his escape in a car fuelled by your Flora! Good grief!
