Britains Worst And Best Roads

Satellite Navigation provider, Garmin, carried out a survey into Britain‘s worst roads, clearly of use when trying to avoid long delays to avoid not only the loss of time but also the cost of fuel. The worst road, voted by almost one in three drivers surveyed, was the M25 whilst London was voted the worst city for its confusing road signs, one way systems and road works. On the other hand the A591 between Keswick and Lake Windermere was voted the best road in Britain to go for a drive followed by the A82 Glasgow to Fort William in Scotland. More than one in five British men regarded driving to a holiday destination their most memorable driving experience, some even said more memorable than their wedding day! Sunday was voted the best day to be driving (who did they poll – that’s the worst day as old drivers who would be safer driving a bath chair admire the roadside shrubs at 15 miles per hour then brake on a sixpence believing a Tesco bag blowing around beside the road to be a stag or badger about to throw itself under their front wheels whilst my rear passengers are sitting with a cornet attached to their nose or a Mars bar now protruding from the back of their neck – Sunday indeed).
